CENTRE GOVERNANCE
As an associated member of Little Athletics Queensland, Springwood Little Athletics operates in accordance with its governance policies. The centre is also legally required to operate within legislated guidelines by the Queensland State Government, including the Office of Fair Trading and Department of Sport.
Springwood takes child safety and protection seriously and is working in partnership with Little Athletics Queensland to achieve full compliance with Queensland Government requirements.

Every Athlete, Parent, Spectator, Official and Coach that represents Springwood Little Athletics Centre or attends our facilities does so knowing that their conduct must comply with our codes of conduct.
Any non-compliance to the codes is subject to discipline under the Little Athletics Queensland Complaints policy.
We aim to ensure a safe, enjoyable and inclusive experience for everyone whilst participating in the sport of Little Athletics.
While a significant majority of people enjoy the sport for all the right reasons, everyone has a role to play, to keep everyone feeling welcomed and respected, and importantly to ensure the kids have fun!
By choosing to be involved in Little Athletics, as an athlete, a parent, a spectator, a coach, an official, a
volunteer.
These expectations apply in all settings, including but not limited to:
• LAQ managed competitions including Championships or Carnivals
• Centre-run weekly meets and carnivals
• Training sessions
• Non-competition events (e.g. Centre presentation functions)
• Representative teams
• Online, including social media, even in ‘private’settings
• Any other program, clinic or meeting connected with Little Athletics
Complaints and Discipline at Springwood operates under the guidelines set by Little Athletics Queensland’s Complaints Disputes and Discipline Policy.
It sets out clearly defined processes and guides all complaint handling and discipline.
It is an offence to smoke (including vapes and e-cigarettes) on or near the facilities of Springwood LAQ.
Under Queensland regulations, Smoking (including vapes and e-cigarettes) is banned at and within 10 metres of viewing and playing areas at organised under-18 sporting and recreational events.
The ban also applies during training/practice sessions and at any intervals or breaks in play or at any time the recreational activity is being provided to children.
This means you cannot smoke (or vape) within 10m of all of our facilities (including oval, the canteen, clubhouse, maintenance sheds, Junior program areas (that is U6 and Tiny tot areas)
There is a designated smoking area which is identified by signage.
Parents and guardians need to remain at the oval while their children are competing.
DO NOT drop your athletes off without a designated adult guardian remaining on site.
Spectators are not permitted on the field of play unless assisting in an age group or have an assigned role.
It is important that all competitors, assistants and observers are mindful of all their surroundings at all times. The entire oval, javelin and junior program are live— watch for track
events occurring, the location of throwing sectors and jumps runways.
